Another week of summer has flown by at lightning speed, while the Cities are buzzing with food and drink news. Here are a few of the week's top stories from the Hot Dish.

~Be in the know about which restaurants are newly opened, closed, or coming soon with our August edition of the Month in Review.

~There was sad news in the restaurant community as we learned of the passing of Pat Murray, the owner of the iconic downtown Minneapolis steakhouse, Murray's.

~Last week's cover story featured the Nordic food movement. This week we visit Fika in the American Swedish Institute, serving a fine variety of Scandinavian favorites.

~There's a brand-new Thai restaurant in northeast Minneapolis with great prices and a friendly staff. Take a tour of Karta Thai and read our review.

~In the stellar tradition of Tin Fish and Sea Salt, Lake Nokomis is in negotiations to open Sandcastle, a beachside restaurant with chef Doug Flickr at the helm.

Have a lovely lake-and-picnic-filled weekend. See you back here next week.
