As we climb over heaping mounds of snow, locking arms as we try not to fall, we Minnesotans will not be deterred from sampling the local food scene. Here are this week's top food stories from the Hot Dish. 

~Kieran Folliard's 2 Gingers Whiskey hits the

 big time

after being acquired by Beam Inc., home of that Jim Beam guy.

~It's been an explosion of restaurant expansion news as Punch Pizza opens in Woodbury, French Meadow adds a St. Paul location, Smack Shack plans a brick-and-mortar opening for January, and a new restaurant/bar hot spot in the North Loop, Borough and Parlour, are set to open after the new year.

~We bring you a restaurant 2-for-1 as we visit two new vendors at the Midtown Global Market--Fresco's Pasta Bar and Sabbai Cuisine. See the slideshow and read our review. 

~Business is booming over at Fulton Brewing, with operations already at capacity  We talk to co-owner Brian Hoffman and hear a bit more about their bustling brewery.
