Fans of craft beer and pretty good pub grub will have to find a new hangout — the Uptown outpost of Republic is closing on October 11. Calhoun Square was the second location for the popular beer-centric bar, replacing The Independent in 2012.
The locally owned pub is respected by beer geeks for having a deep selection of interesting and hard-to-find beers, as well as for having a knowledgeable staff eager to share their enthusiasm. The Uptown beer menu lists almost 50 choices; the menu at the original Seven Corners location is even more extensive. The bars also offer an impressive list of ciders.
No word on what will go into the vacated space in Calhoun Square, but luckily for Twin Cities beer lovers, the original Seven Corners Republic is still going strong.
