American Burger Bar coming soon to downtown Minneapolis
The guys behind American Burger Bar in downtown St. Paul have snapped up the awkward-shaped, possibly-cursed former Mahnattan's space at Eighth and Hennepin/LaSalle in downtown Minneapolis (previously a Pizza Nea) with plans to open another branch of the concept. American Burger Bar is one of the more upscale burger spots in town, as the St. Paul location, in the former home of Gallivan's, has a clubby, retro vibe and gourmet burgers that combine luxe ingredients such as Kobe beef, foie gras, and black truffle.
Co-owners Eric Sandrock and Brad Ireland told the Pioneer Press that they hope to open the Minneapolis restaurant by October and are also planning to open another American Burger Bar branch in St. Joseph, Minn., on September 1. But that's not the end of their expansion plans: they're also working on a coffee/ice cream shop in Blaine called American Joe that they plan to debut in mid-September. America the edible, indeed!
