Alex Roberts and free food tonight at Gather
It's the first Thursday in July, which means free access to the Walker Art Center. It's also the night that Gather, the new D'Amico run restaurant at Walker will be serving dinner. Stop by for some featured tastes from James Beard award winning local chef Alex Roberts.
Tonight, Roberts will be serving a smoked beef carpaccio with saba (a sweet grape syrup, made using a similar process to balsamic vinegar), black garlic with a mustard vinaigrette and micro greens, as well as a Bibb lettuce cup with blue prawns poached in dashi butter, pickled cucumbers, carrots, kataifi (shredded filo) and fresh horseradish. Best of all, these dishes will be free. Free!
In addition to Roberts's dishes, Gather chef Josh Brown has added some new, more substantial dishes to their dinner menu. A block cut, New York strip steak marinated in orange, soy sauce, shallot, rosemary, thyme, and a little brown sugar, served over a black pepper, raisin sauce. And a skin on, pan-seared barramundi served over quinoa with pickled peppers.
Enjoy a bite on their gorgeous patio over looking the city and soak in the warm summer night while sipping something cool from their bar with $5 beer, wine and specialty cocktails.
