Food Truck and brewery season is firing up.

Hot (and cheap) dates, fine (yet cheap) champagne, white (and green) asparagus, food trucks (and beer), and tequila (in a French restaurant). There's something here for you (and for everyone else, too) this week and beyond.

A six-course dinner plus Revel Tequila pairing on Thursday, May 7, from Sanctuary. Two of the biggest bohemians in the biz, Patrick Atanalian and Micah McFarlane (of Jamaican band Ipso Facto and agave spirit label owner) are coming together for a French/Mediterranean/Mexican feast just a couple of days post-Cinco de Mayo. Make a reservation for anytime between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. and the following menu is yours for $65.

Halibut sashimi, aloe marmalade, aleppo pepper oil, black tobiko caviar with Revel Avila Blanco, hibiscus, champagne, and a touch of lime

White chocolate avocado soup, red yuzu pao sauce, and popcorn

Pan seared duck breast, cheddar cheese mashed potatoes, Italian sausage, almond wood smoked sun-dried tomato emulsion sauce, and sweet onion confit with Revel Avila Añejo

Catch of the day; watermelon salsa, Revel Avila Blanco sabayon, and three peppers blis sauce paint

Benton's smoked bacon conch wontons, saffron aioli, pickled green tomato relish with Revel Avila Reposado

Dark chocolate tart, pear coulis and, of course, bleu d'auvergne cheese with Revel Avila Añejo

Food truck season is officially in full swing, and you know what that means: brewery events. We have the calendar from the MN Food Truck Association, which includes a hell of a lot of our favorite trucks (click to see the full list). Admission to all Saturday brewery dates, in which a dozen or more trucks will show up, are free, except of course the cost of food and beer.

The Little Mekong Night Market will be returning to St. Paul this summer, and organizers are promising double the size and twice the fun. Just like in hot Asian countries where the sun beats down too harshly to do things during the day, use the evening to stock up on mushrooms, greens, sprouts, preserves, granola, ice creams, ferments, bubble tea, and more, more, more. Also: music, exhibits, performances, and stuff for kids. Opens July 3.

"Date Night" at all-American, Mears Park facing Public Kitchen and Bar every Sunday and Monday gets you a $20 three-course menu plus select bottles of wine for 15 bucks. Sample menus:

Choice of appetizer: Salmon toro with capers, lemon zest, shallot, grilled crostini Calamari with Creole remoulade and pickled red onions Green and kalamata olive bruschetta, garlic cream cheese spread

Choice of entree: Pork roulade with kale, chevre, pickled vegetables, prosciutto wrapped potato gratin Spaghetti and vegetables with tomatoes, yellow squash, arugula, and goat cheese Walnut-crusted cod with bourbon apple sauce, bacon, and Brussels sprouts

Dessert: Chocolate bundt cake with ganache, berry coulis, creme anglaise

Third Thursday Wine Tastings at 6 Smith are only $35 -- a great price for a champagne tasting plus snack pairings (think truffled potato chips, flatbreads, and killer bacon). It's asparagus season, and two of our European restaurants worship these harbingers of spring enough to dedicate entire weeks and months to them. Brasserie Zentral and Black Forest Inn both host Spargelfests, (Asparagus fests) during the month of May.

True to dramatic form, BZ will be importing white asparagus from Holland and Germany. Menu items will be available rotating a la carte throughout the month. Samples: white asparagus cream soup with hazelnuts, butter-braised white asparagus with scrambled eggs and caviar, chicken breast in asparagus lattice with morel mushrooms and sauce supreme, potato gnocchi with asparagus and rock shrimp, rabbit loin with grilled asparagus salad, and white asparagus ice cream with grilled strawberries and aged balsamic.

Black Forest Inn hasn't shared its menu yet, but the festival takes place on May 22 through 31 and includes entertainment, prizes, and other festivities. Watch the website for upcoming details, and also don't miss their 50th anniversary party May 15 through 17.
