A whiskey sale, Rush River beer dinner, and more this Week in Food
Time to load up on whiskey at Zipps
We're getting into the home stretch for Thanksgiving, so this week is stocked with events that will help you expand your stomach in preparation for a major holiday eat-a-thon.
11/12 If you're like us, you need plenty of liquor to make it through the holiday season. Thankfully (ha!) Zipps is having its annual Fall Whiskey Sale as we speak. You can nab all your favorite styles of whiskey for 10 percent off. Load up on gifts and expand your home supply in time for the holidays. The sale runs through November 17, so clear out some space in your trunk.
11/13 Fans of Wisconsin's Rush River beers should head to the Happy Gnome Tuesday for an epic beer dinner that includes five courses paired with six Rush River brews. In addition to heaps of eats, you'll can chat with the folks who actually brew the beer and own the joint. The meet-and-greet begins at 6 p.m. with the dinner to follow at 7. Tickets are $85 and can be purchased here.
11/14 Jax Cafe gives a nod to all the carnivorous hunters out there with an explosive Hunters Dinner Wednesday night for $80 per person. There's so much meat and food to be had that we're just going to touch on a few of the burlier selections: venison sausage, quail, grilled elk, alligator satays, buffalo meatballs, and smoked trout. A variety of Summit beers will be paired with various courses, along with a 2Gingers Alexander for dessert. Things kick off at 6 p.m. with heaps of appetizers, and you can reserve your spot by calling 612.789.7297.
11/15 No need to dust off your passport for this meal: Chef Vincent Francoual takes diners on A Taste of France Thursday night at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, which means for $50 (for members, $60 for nonmembers) you can enjoy new recipes in an interactive environment. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Francoual will bust out celery root salad, smoked duck, mimolette cheese; baked walleye with spices; Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes w/pickled onion sauce; and floating island-local apples with crème Anglaise. Everything will be paired with various wines to boot. For tickets call 952.443.1422.
