Ramp up to some serious Memorial Day weekend grilling with a full week of food-related outings, classes, and parties.
5/24 Patio party! it's the first of Tria's monthly patio parties--there will be one a month through the summer--that kick off at 5:30 and feature a prix fixe dinner under the stars. Complimentary sangria accompanies a salad, entree, and dessert, which guests can enjoy in front of Tria's patio fireplace while local bands provide music. 5/25 Beer dinner! Pittsburgh Blue offers a four-course meal paired with the best summer beers. First, an asparagus and shrimp lollipop matched with Blue Moon Belgian ale; second, a classic summer salad with Leinie's Summer Shandy; third, a gorgonzola-crusted filet mignon with Pilsner Urquell; and finally, Sebastian Joe's beer ice cream matched with Leinie's Berry Weiss. 5/26 Bread making! The Wedge guides students through three methods for creating no-knead breads. All the methods are simple but have equipment needs and limitations to consider. All breads are vegetarian, and some will be dairy-free. 7-9 p.m. $25, $20 members. To sign up call 612.871.3993.
Garden cocktails! Cooking instructor Kris James helms this Minnesota Landscape Arboretum class (back by popular demand) that will help you impress your guests with creative drinks made from garden goodness. Make simple syrups and learn how to muddle herbs into magical beverages like the lemon-verbena quencher, berry-thyme cooler, and more. 5/29 Mini doughnuts! The Kingfield Farmer's Market is officially open, which means you can enjoy Chef Shack for breakfast every Sunday until October 30. Oh, and of course you can also load up on plenty of great food from vendors like Singing Hills Goat Dairy, Beez Kneez Honey, Braucher's Meats, Yang's and Xou's produce, and much more. Market runs from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
