This year's Oysterfest by Meritage will take place on Sunday, October 11 from noon to dusk.
Tickets come in three categories:
General Admission: $25 for entry only, purchase oysters as you go
Oyster Pass: $60 for entry, a dozen oysters, and a pint of beer
Platinum Pass: $120 for early admission, unlimited oysters from noon to 2 p.m., live music, a shucking demo, and select beverages
Southside Aces and the Roe Family Singers will serenade the oyster slurping.
Celebrity chefs will be on hand to go shucker to shucker in a shucking showdown. Who will take the prize? You gotta be there to see.
As in years past, "Oyster School" will be a highlight, manned by prominent oyster farmers from both coasts:
Hama Hama Oyster Farm (Hood Canal, WA)
Island Creek Oyster Farm (Duxbury, MA)
Rappahannock Oyster Farm (Richmond, VA)
Also: an oyster shucking tutorial, wine and beer pairing stations, a full offering of additional food for purchase (lobster rolls, fried clams, steamers, oyster po boys, burgers, more). Summit Brewery will be pouring its limited edition Oyster Stout.
