The simple genius of A to Z Pizza Farm cannot be overstated. It's a farm first, a bakery second, a sort of pizzeria third. They produce every ingredient for the pies on site, right down to the sausage, which can be a tough detail to swallow when you consider that the farm looks a little like a petting zoo on the surface (it's not, and they respectfully ask that you and the kids respect the animals; this is a working farm).
But the slow ferment on the dough offers a complex crisp-chew, for a pie that practically eats like fine dining. There's so much care in every detail. Tomatoes, herbs, and onions do not get fresher than this, and those who wield the peels are nothing short of masters at the two handcrafted wood-fired ovens that roar with heat.
It's worth the drive and the price tags that brush up against the $30 mark; it's a hulking beast, this pizza, so bring friends, and don't forget to stop at Stockholm Pie Company on the way up the hill for the only way to do dessert.
