There's a corner deli in northeast Minneapolis where you can get some of the best Lebanese food this side of the Atlantic. Emily's Lebanese Deli was once featured on the show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, it's relatively inexpensive, and it's known around the city for its authentic food -- no knock-off, Americanized kabobs here.

While it's nearly impossible to pick a favorite item here, the Lebanese chicken and rice is always a safe (and delicious) bet. It's cooked casserole-style, the chicken breast cut into chunks and baked over rice. Sounds simple, maybe even boring, right? Well, not after Emily's adds lamb, pine nuts, and cinnamon for flavor. The dish is then served simply with butter, or for a unique eastern Mediterranean flavor, with lubin, a sort of Lebanese yogurt.

Emily's is a favorite among Northeast residents, but diners have been known to regularly venture from the suburbs into the city for their Mediterranean fix. It's a trip worth making no matter where in the Twin Cities you live, especially for a chance to sample the chicken and rice and everything nice.
