As a countdown to the Best of the Twin Cities 2014, coming April 16, the Hot Dish is serving up 100 of our favorite local dishes.
Even on the warm autumnal day when we ducked into Verdant Tea for our first taste of these curry spiced noodles, most of the people inside were swathed in cable knit. As the artisan tea brewed and perfumed the air, we stayed snuggled in our outerwear and inhaled deeply. No matter the weather outside, these noodles draped in broth and sauce are a delicious, soul-warming dish.

When the bowl arrives, the buckwheat noodles separate the sweet potato curry sauce from the broth. Mix these elements together, melding the flavors, and the fun soon begins. Slurp up the hearty noodles and draw in that zesty sauce to fill your head with the exotic scents of garam masala. 

The dish is at once nutty, creamy, saucy, and wholly satisfying, for just $9.75. The snappy little slices of green onion bring a springy flavor, a sort of promise that this polar vortex, these short days, certainly will not last forever.
