10,000 Minutes of Minnesota Craft Beer 2013: Weekend Events
E. Katie Holm
Finally, it's Friday, it's the start of Art-A-Whirl, and it's time to celebrate the end of Craft Beer Week with a cold brew or two... or more. With dozens of events, tappings, and releases going on all weekend, we picked a handful of events that are sure to be filled to the brim with fun and hops.
Boom Island's Thoprock IPA Now in Growlers at the Brewery Boom Island Brewing Company Taproom 2207 North 2nd Street, Minneapolis Friday 5-7:30 p.m. and Saturday 1-4 p.m. It might sounds weird, but Boom Island's Thoprock is pretty darn good. Get the IPA in a growler all year long starting now. They'll also have Witness available in growler form at the taproom, with Silvius, Hoodoo, and Brimstone bottled up, too.
St. Paul Saints Dabbler Bullpen Opening Week Saint Paul Saints Stadium St. Paul Thursday through Sunday Finally, one of the classic markers of summertime: the opening of the Saints games. We've always liked getting a cold one during the season, but during opening week, you can catch some pretty crafty brews at the Dabbler Bullpen courtesy of four different local breweries including Badger Hill.
First Annual Stanley's Craft Beer Festival and Block Party Stanley's Northeast Bar Room Lowry Avenue NE Third Street, Minneapolis Saturday 2-5 p.m. It might be Stanley's First Annual Craft Beer Festival and Block Party, but we have a feeling it won't be the last. Scheduled during Art-A-Whirl primetime, it's the perfect place to take a break from all that traveling between galleries and sip on an ice-cold beer before you hit up the next artsy hotspots on your list.
7th Annual Brewers Bazaar St. Croix Boat and Packet Co. 525 South Main Street, Stillwater Saturday 12-4 p.m. Hop aboard the Avalon Riverboat on the St. Croix River and spend a delightful four hours sampling more than a dozen different craft beers from around the area. Tickets go fast though, so make sure you snag yours if you haven't already.
