When your city faces a rising river, residents run on adrenaline for endless hours lining the river with sandbags to stop the flood. But what happens when the flood recedes and 6 million sandbags are left behind?
We see a lot of photos of sandbags and the Red River looking monstrous, but it's hard to understand just how deep this water is in places it's not supposed to be.

While the water level is starting to drop, the river is still well above flood stage and many areas are still flooded with waters to create homes still protected by barriers of sand bags.
When Fargo police make rules to keep people safe during the flood, they aren't joking around.
The river was at 38.5 feet this morning and could reach 41 feet this weekend. That would exceed the 1897 record by almost a foot and beat the 1997 flood numbers by 1.5 feet.
Twin Cities volunteers used the social networking services to organize teams to join the sandbagging effort in Fargo, according to this NBC Nightly News clip.
