No, it's not an Open Streets Minneapolis event. Grand Old Day has been doing it much longer. Each year, the first Sunday in June means that Grand Avenue will be alive and filled with people for the biggest one-day festival in the Midwest. Events start early, but things really ramp up at 9:30 a.m. when the parade makes its way down the street. During the day, street vendors will offer tasty fair-style food, as well as items from businesses in the neighborhood. Kids can help paint pianos, slide down an enormous bouncy slide, and meet animals in the petting, zoo. Meanwhile, adults 21 and over can pay $8 for admission to the festival gardens, which grants them access to a variety of live music stages, as well as the mini-Irish Fair, where there will be beer and traditional music. Over in the sporting district, folks will be able to test their athleticism with baseball, basketball, and corn-hole games with pros from the Timberwolves, St. Paul Saints, Minnesota Rollergirls, and Lynx on hand.
