Brew up some strong coffee and get ready to stay up all night as Northern Spark is returning to the Twin Cities for its second year. The sprawling event will be contained to five quadrants in Minneapolis — downtown, University, Stone Arch Bridge, Walker Art Center, and the MIA/MCAD/Greenway — and features special performances, parties, bike rides, concerts, film screenings, outdoor art installations, and other fun happenings from sunset to sunrise. The Walker's galleries, patio, and Open Lawn will be open extra late, with acoustic music and storytelling around the campfire. Over at the Ice House Plaza (2540 Nicollet Ave.) there will be performance sets from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. with comedian Mary Mack, spoken-word artist Paul Dickinson of the Riot Act Reading Series, performance artist Jaime Carrera, Patches and Gretchen, and others.
