A tradition based on a somewhat inexplicable juxtaposition -- inexplicable, at least, if you discount any deeper connection to 1982's "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)" -- the long-running annual Rock for Pussy enters its eighth year of putting on a David Bowie tribute show to benefit local cat-adoption services. This year, no-kill shelter Feline Rescue is the beneficiary, and the participanting local bands fit the Ziggy/Thin White Duke/Berlin epochs well; among the performers in a huge ensemble cast are regulars like Ciaran Daly of the Idle Hands (pictured), All the Pretty Horses' Venus DeMars, and Minneapolis alt/punk legend Lori Barbero.
