Few comics of this era—or any era—are as wonderfully distinctive as Emo Philips. The lanky funnyman for years sported a Prince Valliant haircut and a faraway stare into some alternate universe where he culled his strange, cerebral jokes, which he then would deliver in an unmistakable, cracking falsetto.
