This month's Free First Saturday will focus on cinema, though not the actors and actresses who stand in front of the camera. Instead the emphasis will be on those who labor behind it. The museum will host activities including an art project where children can make their own phenakistoscope (a spinning disk that creates the illusion of movement), storytelling, and an activity sheet exploring one of the Walker's current exhibitions, "Event Horizon." The most exciting event will be the Girls in the Director's Chair Showcase, featuring 22 films created by female filmmakers age 12 to 18.
