Now in its eighth year, the Square Lake Music and Film Festival is a unique fusion of local bands, DIY film, and camping. Guests are encouraged to bike; last year around 130 attendees did so, and this year around 200 bikers are expected to ride to the festival (out of 400 attendees). Sign up by this Thursday to receive a 75 percent ticket discount (50 percent if you're biking from Stillwater) and meet at either the HUB Bike COOP (3020 Minnehaha Ave. S., Minneapolis) at 9:30 a.m., the Sibley Bike Depot (712 University Ave., St. Paul) at 10 a.m., or the Bikery (904 Fourth St., Stillwater) at 11 a.m. Transportation will be available for camping gear. Music begins around 2 p.m. with the folksy Aby Wolf and is followed by performances by bluegrass band the Orange Mighty Trio, country blues artist Charlie Parr, rockers Zebulon Pike, rootsy Roma di Luna, and two sets with jazz group the Bad Plus.
