Two months after opening for Julian Casablancas + the Voidz at First Avenue, locals Ripper are holding the release party for their debut EP (out on cassette and limited to 100 copies) at the Turf Club. The self-titled release's seven songs are over way before you know it, but that's plenty of time to show that Ripper share plenty of influences with Casablancas and his Strokes. "White Chuck Taylors," for instance, is a melodic blast of '70s garage punk, while "48 Hours" is a chaotic ode to staying up for two nights straight and "not giving a fuck."
