Brooklyn Brewery is a landmark destination in the Williamsburg area, with tour lines routinely snaking around the block and a massive, adjoining bowling alley/music venue/restaurant increasing its pull on the neighborhood. The company's ability to define its age-old brand as part of the area's youthful renaissance drives its second annual world-crossing promotional tour, Mash, named after the brewing process's first step. Rather than setting up shop at a single location, Mash organizers roll into town and spread out for a whole week. From Saturday through August 16, they will be hosting tap takeover events at bars like Pat's Tap, and educational workshops on topics like homebrewing and beer pairing. On Sunday events ramp up to full speed, with a farm tour and meal hosted by local organization Dinner on the Farm and Brooklyn Brewery head chef Andrew Gerson. There will be a town hall discussion about the state of the craft brew scene on Monday, where representatives from Fulton, Schell's, and Urban Growler talk shop with Brooklyn's brewmasters. For a dose of Brooklyn humor, Mash will also include a comedy showcase at the Nomad World Pub before closing the week with a gala dinner hosted by Gerson and Corner Table's Thomas Boemer, and a concert at the Amsterdam. Headlining the show is the borough's own Marnie Stern with support from Pink Mink and BNLX. For more info and full schedule of... More >>>
