Multiple fights broke out yesterday afternoon in different parts of the Mall of America, some of it captured on shoppers' cell phone cameras.

Various estimates put the size of the brawling crowds between 50 and 200 youths, who fist-fought and threw chairs as shoppers caught in the middle darted for cover.

Not only is December 26 one of the busiest shopping days of the season, the day before rumors began spreading on Twitter and other social media that Lil Wayne and Drake were making an unannounced visit to the mall. The rumors weren't true, but may have contributed to the size of crowds that packed the shopping center.

Around 4:30 p.m., one large group began fighting in a food court, but the seemingly random and contagious violence spread quickly to other parts of the mall. At one point, police had reports of 10 fights going on at once. You can watch some of the action in the clips below:

Some stores closed their doors as cops with weapons drawn tried to restore order to the mall. At one point they began forcing shoppers out the doors of a first floor entrance to break up the melee. Police eventually arrested at least 10 juveniles and young adults, and luckily no one was injured.
