The Wild are in a tailspin. The team has lost eight of its last ten games and is now just one point away from last in the division. Underachieving vets (we're looking at you, Vanek and Koivu), injuries, and inconsistent goaltending have plagued a team with the highest expectations in franchise history.
The struggles have Mike Yeo, the youngest head coach in the NHL, feeling some heat. After a bad 4-3 overtime loss to San Jose, Yeo lost his shit during a lackluster practice. KSTP caught it on tape.
Star Tribune beat reporter Michael Russo live tweeted the practice for some additional details on the ugly scene.
Koivu just left ice hurt. Smashed stick in half twice as he left. He's been dealing with a lower body injury & seemed to aggravate it #mnwild— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) January 7, 2015
#mnwild continuing practice without Yeo. Assistant GM Brent Flahr and director of hockey admin Shep Harder left stands when Yeo left ice— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) January 7, 2015
Kuemper just left the ice sick or hurt it appears. #mnwild— Michael Russo (@Russostrib) January 7, 2015
The season is not even half over yet, so hopefully by the time the playoffs roll around this will be just a distant memory.
