St. Paul's loss is Richfield's gain: U.S. Bancorp has confirmed that it is pulling 1,600 workers out of its offices on Shepard Road in St. Paul -- about a third of its workforce -- and transferring them to the company's expanding Richfield campus next year.
A company spokesman told the Strib that the move to the new office space -- 340,000 square feet at Meridien Crossings -- will give the company more room to expand. The Shepard Road facility, which the company had leased for about a dozen years, measured about 320,000 square feet.
The Minneapolis-based corporation is the parent of U.S. Bank, the 5th largest commercial bank in the United States, according to the company's Web site. It operates 3,015 bank offices around the country, with headquarters in downtown Minneapolis.
