Around 1 p.m., yours truly walked past the aftermath of an incredible car wreck at the intersection of Irving and Lagoon Avenues in the Uptown area of Minneapolis.
As you can see in the above photo, the impact from a two-car collision somehow propelled one of the vehicles on top of a fire hydrant.
Here's another view:
A witness said he saw the red car traveling at a high rate of speed westbound down Lagoon moments before he heard a loud impact. (He didn't see the collision.) The witness said it didn't appear anyone was seriously injured.
The driver of the red car could be seen walking around the scene as fire responders began clearing debris. The witness said a woman driving the silver car exited the vehicle on her own power.
Traffic on Lagoon was still moving minutes after the wreck, but at a crawl.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesperson John Elder didn't immediately have any additional information.
