It's always cringeworthy, after sometimes, after the kiss cam, the Twins run live footage of a man proposing to his girlfriend on the big screen at Target Field. Most of the time, the woman says yes (for God's sake, you better have it locked down before resorting to that tactic!), but it doesn't always work out that way.
For whatever reason, the New Britain Rock Cats, the Twins' Double-A affiliate, thought it would be a good idea to stage one of those oh-my-God-I-can't-believe-she-just-said-no scenarios during a recent game.

Mike Abramson, the team's vice president of marketing, admits that the proposal was staged. The Star Tribune shares more of his reaction:
Abramson... says the team hoped the video would go viral and is pleased with the outcome. The team is apologizing to anyone who might have been offended.We're offended, but probably for different reasons than the ones Abramson has in mind.
