Twins home opener includes BLM protest, new Target Field bar

The Minnesota Twins are off to a historically terrible start. But neither that nor Monday's chilly weather prevented fans from selling out Target Field for the team's home opener. The struggling Twins dropped their seventh straight game to begin the season, the worst start in franchise history, losing to the Chicago White Sox 4-1. Prior to the game, Black Lives Matter Minneapolis protesters blocked off two intersections, delaying light-rail traffic to the game in effort to draw more attention to the case of Jamar Clark, the 24-year-old black man killed by Minneapolis police last fall. The roughly 30 protesters were predominantly "white allies," calling on other whites to speak out about racial disparities. Read more about the protest here. All photos by Susan Du on April 11, 2016.
