The tiny town of Callaway, Minnesota, was evacuated Thursday after a train crashed into a propane tank crossing the tracks.
Miraculously, no one was killed in the crash, the fire, or this huge blast, captured on tape by a cameraman for WDAY TV station in Fargo. Two crew members from the train were taken to a hospital in Devils Lake with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver survived, too, thanks to the cab of the truck separating from the giant gasoline box behind him. The Fargo Forum says he declined medical attention. Here's hoping he at least sought a stiff drink.
A few of the train's cars derailed, though none was carrying hazardous material. Firefighters from 21 different departments were on the scene to manage the fire, which basically meant keeping an eye on it as the propane tank burned itself out. From the looks of this video, a whole bunch of it burned up right at this very moment.
Residents were encouraged to make plans to stay with family or friends in the area, and others spent Thursday night in Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, which could not have a more appropriate name.
The evacuation was lifted this morning. There's not much else to add, so we'll just let the camera guy take it from here. "Whoa! Jeez! Explosion!" he says, thick with that Fargo accent.
Exactly, guy. Exactly.
