Tornado reported near downtown Minneapolis, warnings continue in metro area
A tornado was reported near downtown Minneapolis, moving north. The threat for tornadoes continues for the northern metro area.
UPDATE: There is a tornado warning in effect until 3:15 p.m. for Dakota, Ramsey and Washington Counties.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado warning in parts of Hennepin, Anoka, Dakota and Ramsey Counties. This warning is in effect until 2:45 p.m.
There was damage reported to a church near the Convention Center.
Locations in warning include Brooklyn Center, New Brighton, Arden Hills, Fridley, Brooklyn Park, Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, Circle Pines, Lexington, Champlin, Oak Park, and Blaine.
Seek shelter immediately if you are in an unsafe area.

Fire departments reported seeing a tornado near the area of 35th Street and Portland Ave. and 15th and Lasalle Ave.
Minneapolis police have shut down Portland Ave., south of 38th Street, due to storm damage in the neighborhood.
As of 2:17 p.m. Xcel Energy is reporting 4,600 power outages in the Twin Cities metro area.
