St. Police police spokeman Paul Schnell set to be Hastings's top cop
Paul Schnell, the current public information officer of the Saint Paul Police Department, is expected to become the new chief of police in Hastings.
"Earlier this morning a sub-committee of our city council met and identified Paul Schnell as the top candidate," said Dave Osberg, Hastings city administrator. Hat tip, Hastings Star-Gazette for reporting the story first.
The final decision must go through Hastings Mayor Paul Hicks, who is expected to support the choice, and then on to the Hastings City Council on Monday for the final approval.
Schnell was one of three finalists for the position. Rick Mathwig, of the Roseville Police Department, withdrew his name after getting the job as that department's chief of police. Wayne Hicks, a sergeant in the Hastings Police Department, was the third finalist.
