Snow storm is going to make the drive home a pain
The big blue wave should beak over us by evening rush.
See that big blue wave on the radar photo? It's going to break right over the Twin Cities in time to make your even commute a pain in the neck. Or knuckles. (Insert your preferred pressure point here.)
We're also looking for variations on the all-too-familiar nickname for the weather pattern that brings the white stuff: "Alberta Clipper." Why can't it be a "Saskatchewan Scooter," or a "Manitoba Mauler," or even a "North Dakota Death Dump?"
MPR's weather guru Paul Huttnerconsulted his crystal ball and predicts between 4 to 7 inches of snow would accumulate in and around Minneapolis and St. Paul by daybreak.
We say that means it's time for you to pester your boss for an early dismissal and beat it home. Unless, of course, you're a snow plow driver or a TV weather droid, in which case you're day is just beginning.

Rest Of Today: a slight chance of snow late in the morning, then snow in the afternoon. New snow accumulation up to 2 inches. Highs around 20. East winds 5 to 10 mph. Tonight: not as cold. Snow in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation of 4 to 5 inches. Lows around 20. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Today: partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow in the morning, then snow in the afternoon. Snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches. Highs 20 to 25. East winds 10 mph. Tonight: not as cold. Snow in the evening, then snow likely after midnight. Snow accumulation of 4 to 5 inches. Lows around 20. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph. Saturday: cloudy. A chance of snow in the morning, then a slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs around 25. North winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 40 percent.
