Folks in the suburbs love their wide open spaces, but the moment local fauna and flora start impacting property values, watch out. Case in point: Shoreview City Council has voted to rid its city of a flock of wild turkeys, appropriating a few thousand dollars to have most of the wee beasties rounded up, killed and donated to feed the needy.
From the sounds of a story in the Strib, about 100 of the big birds have been laying waste some neighborhoods in the this northwest suburb, "breaking tree branches, destroying roofs where they roost and damaging cars. The pesky birds are posing public safety problems on roads and proving to be hazardous to a few children they've chased."
Can't be having that. No sir. Lock and load. Oh, and quit feeding the birds.
