Shooting outside Mortimer's Bar leaves one dead, one critically injured
Shortly after bar close this morning, a shooting outside Mortimer's Bar left one man dead and another critically injured.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, according to an MPD press release. The release leaves it unclear whether the shooter was one of the two men, both of them, or somebody else. A call to the MPD's public information officer seeking more information wasn't returned Sunday.
Here's the entirety of the MPD's news release:
Shortly after 2:00am, officers responded to a shooting at Mortimer's Bar, 2001 Lyndale Avenue South. When officers arrived they located 2 adult males who had been shot outside of the bar. Both men were transported via ambulance to HCMC where one man died and the other is in critical condition.
Preliminary information indicates that the suspect and the victims may have known each other and the shooting stemmed from a verbal altercation that occurred earlier last night. This appears to be an isolated incident and not a random act.
The Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit is investigating this case and witnesses are being interviewed. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the MPD tipline at 612-692-TIPS (8477). The CCN is 13-339913.
