Say goodbye to cheaper taxi rates; old rates will likely be restored

Remember when we celebrated the cheaper taxi rate back in March? That $2-per-mile dream ride will likely go right back to what it was before the drop thanks to a Minneapolis City Council vote to restore rates.

City Council will vote to bring taxi fares back to $2.35-per-mile after falling gas prices dropped the rate, says the Star Tribune.

Drivers are celebrating the likely increase, but you likely won't see riders pumping their fists in excitement. A 5-mile trip will go from $12.10 to $13.78. You probably shouldn't use this as an excuse to go back to your drunk driving habits, but it's worth knowing about.
