Ryan Daniel Jones-Adams sentenced in Marvin Ray Maynard's murder

Ryan Daniel Jones-Adams has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars for gunning down 16-year-old Marvin Ray Maynard in a gang dispute.

Jones-Adams, 16 at the time of the shooting, was with friends when he confronted Maynard and another group of friends on Jan. 17 on James Avenue in North Minneapolis. Police say Jones-Adams pulled out a gun, said "I'll up on your ass," ran toward Maynard and fired two shots. The 16-year-old was pronounced dead the scene by police.

In court yesterday, he told Maynard's tearful family he was sorry, and ready to do time in prison, but he also hinted that he could easily have been the guy on the wrong end of a gun.
