R.T. Rybak and the bogus "Harry Reid moment"
Luke Hellier on Minnesota Democrats Exposed is currently hyping a quote from Rybak as his "Harry Reid moment"--a reference to the senator's recently quoted remarks about Obama that some found to be racially insensitive.
The Rybak quote in question:
"While we eat in our restaurants, they toil in the kitchens,' he said. 'They mow the lawns in our best neighborhoods. At night when we go home, they clean our office buildings for the next day."
Rybak's statement generalizes about race, which is always dangerous territory, but this is a relatively common formulation used by pro-immigration supporters to remind Americans how dependent we are on migrant labor from Mexico.
