Two guys in ski masks ran into an InterBank branch in Roseville on Wednesday morning. One of them whipped out a semi-automatic handgun, pointed it at an employee, and demanded she open the safe.
"No funny money," one of the two men said before the woman opened the safe and the men stashed the loot in a dark backpack. They locked her and two other employees in a closet, and took off, as security cameras recorded the heist.[jump]
One reason they may not have been caught right away: Two Roseville police cars collided right in front of the bank while responding to the robbery. The crash sent one of the cars tumbling over, and the officer in the car had to be extricated and rushed to the hospital.
The FBI says the two men are suspected in a string of bank robberies and attempted robberies in the suburbs:
- Wells Fargo Bank in Champlin on August 4, 2010.
- U.S. Bank in Plymouth on September 13, 2010.
- U.S. Bank in Anoka on November 5, 2010.
- TCF Bank in Chanhassen on August 30, 2010.
- TCF Bank in Lakeville on September 2, 2010.
One robber is described as a black male, about 6 feet tall with a large build, wearing a black ski mask, black jacket and pants, black gloves, and a white wool hat. He carried the silver handgun in his left hand.
The other robber is described as shorter than the first robber, a skinny build, believed to be in his 20s or early 30s, wearing a black ski mask, black clothing, gloves, and white sneakers. He carried the backpack.
