CNBC has a ranked list of states with the most rich people. In response to President Obama's plan to let the tax cuts for the rich expire, the list shows the percentage of people who will be affected in each state and how they voted in the 2008 election.
So are there a lot of rich Minnesotans? Sort of. According to the report, we have more than the national average.
Minnesota ranks No. 15 on the list. Here are our stats:
% of Households Earning $200K+: 3.8%
Total Households: 2,062,681
Households Earning $200K+: 77,772
Median Income: $57,932
Nationally, about 3 percent of households make more than $200,000 a year. Coming in at No. 1 was the District of Columbia with 8.4 percent of the households makes $200k+. Connecticut came in second with 8 percent.
Rep. Michele Bachmann linked to the report, but we're not quite sure what point she is trying to make.
