Rep. Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) may not be the most literate lawmaker, but he's nothing if not transparent. Drazkowski totally just tweeted that transgender children are the same as sex offenders.
Here's how Drazkowski happily outed himself as a raging bigot, as Sally Jo Sorensen of Bluestem Prairie reports:
On Thursday, City Pages ran a story about Chris Bradshaw, this guy who had a thing for videotaping boys in a YMCA locker room. Because Minnesota law says kids have to be in sexual positions or engaged in sexual acts for it to count as child pornography, Bradshaw won't have to serve any prison time.
Rep. Debra Hilstrom (DFL-Brooklyn Center), who has a bill in the works to make secret restroom or locker room recordings a felony, tweeted the story as evidence the law needs to be changed.
Drazkowski, in a spectacular display of logical acrobatics, then tweeted that Hilstrom should join him as a co-author on a Republican "student privacy" bill that would ban bathroom choice for trans students.
Hilstrom ignored the invite, but former legislator Joe Radinovich quipped in the conversation: "Privacy from whom?" he challenged Drazkowski.
No, not just as in the article. But kudos to Drazkowski for the dropping the facade that the Student Privacy Protection bill is about anything but conflating trans kids with dangerous sex offenders.
