Reader: Let's quit with the misinformation about socialism

Sanders would have to double his tax proposals on the wealthy just to get back to where we were under another leftist radical, Dwight Eisenhower.

Sanders would have to double his tax proposals on the wealthy just to get back to where we were under another leftist radical, Dwight Eisenhower.

Reader Christopher John responds to Bernie Sanders talks 'Black America' in heated north Minneapolis forum:

"Socialist countries in Europe have some of the lowest poverty rates and crime rates in the world. Employment rates in those countries have also remained low and did through the recession. Studies have also shown they live with a high quality of life, and sociology studies have shown they are some of the happiest nations on earth as far as the citizens' general feelings about their lives.

"So to say every place socialism has been adopted it has failed is just wrong. Simply ignorant. Not to mention most of what he has proposed is still less socialist than what America was like not that long ago.

"Sanders proposed less taxes on the wealthy than the conservative Republican Eisenhower had. He would have to double his taxes and spending proposals to get to that point."
