That house-sized caricature of two guys in old-school duds shaking hands over the outfield seats at Target Field? Those guys are Minnie and Paul. Ray Barton drew them in 1961 for the Dixie cups at old Metropolitan Stadium when the team was born. For $15.
The next time you go to the fancy new ballpark, and the lights around Minnie and Paul flash when our side scores, raise a cold beer to Barton. The man died of cancer on Sunday. He was 80 years old.
