Randy Moss doesn't think Cordarrelle Patterson is worthy of number 84
Moss, in what will hopefully become a new catchphrase for him: "What can I say? I'm just Randy Moss sitting here in the studio."
Randy Moss is no longer playing in the NFL, but he's taken up a new line of work this season as an in-studio analyst for Fox's Sunday morning football coverage.
Before the disappointing Vikings-Lions game yesterday (well, disappointing for Purple fans, at least), Moss was asked how he felt about first-round pick Cordarrelle Patterson wearing the number 84 Randy made famous during his historic rookie season back in 1998. Suffice it to say he's not a fan.
"That's disrespectful to give a rookie my number," Moss said. "I don't really believe in numbers but from a professional standpoint, I did make that number. He hasn't proven anything yet but hey what can I say? I'm just Randy Moss sitting here in the studio."
Indeed -- during his first game, Patterson wasn't worthy of number 84. He played just a handful of plays and ended up with one catch for 10 yards. By comparison, Moss put up 95 yards and two touchdowns in his NFL debut.
Then again, Moss had an in-his-prime Brad Johnson throwing him the rock that afternoon. And while that's nothing extraordinarily awesome, Johnson's like John Lennon compared to Christian Ponder's Justin Bieber.
