Prince Moore, charged with killing his wife, says he stabbed her 63 times in self-defense
Prince Moore told police he woke up early Tuesday morning to his wife trying to stab him. So, Moore said, he took the knife and stabbed his wife until she was beyond dead and the knife he'd used had bent from the strain, according to a complaint from the Hennepin County Attorney's Office filed yesterday.
Moore, a 58-year-old originally from Liberia, is being charged with second-degree murder for his wife's death. After the murder, Moore called 911 from his Brooklyn Park apartment, and reported that his wife had tried to stab him, and he'd stabbed her in return.
When police arrived, they walked through the apartment's already-open door and found a bloody scene. According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's office, Moore stabbed his wife at least 63 times.
The medical examiner found that Moore had stabbed his wife in her "hands, back, chest, face, and her neck," according to the complaint.
Cops found Moore lying on the ground, with his legs draped over his dead wife's body. He was found to have stabbing wounds to his neck and chest which were "relatively minor," the complaint says. As of earlier this week, Moore was in North Memorial Medical Center being treated for injuries not related to the night of the homicide.
Moore is charged with second-degree murder, which carries a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
