Phelandis Depure Jackson dies in South Lyndale drive-by shooting


Two blocks of South Lyndale Avenue in Lowry Hill East turned into a homicide investigation scene early Saturday morning after one man was shot and killed and another injured outside the Red Dragon restaurant at about 2 a.m. Saturday.

That's Minneapolis police officers found Phelandis Depure Jackson, 29, of Minneapolis, and a teenager wounded on the street. Both were rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center, where later Jackson died. Evidence at the scene suggested they were shot from a passing vehicle.

The shooting took place just as Mortimer's bar and Rudolph's BBQ were closing for the night. The SuperAmerica was still open.

MPD spokesman Sgt. Bill Palmer says no one is in custody in connection with this case yet. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the TIPS line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
