Pawlenty and Maddow talk stimulus
Gov. Tim Pawlenty appeared on MSNBC's Rachel Maddow Show last night to talk about the stimulus package signed by President Obama yesterday. Just how does a Republican governor who opposed the stimulus bill feel OK taking the money?
Watch the video below.
We have to give some props to Pawlenty for actually showing his face on an MSNBC show. It would have been much easier for him to pop up over at Fox and bitch about Democrats for 20 minutes than risk pure embarrassment in the hands of Maddow. He handled himself well, defended his position (sort of) and didn't ruin Minnesota's reputation. Bravo!
When asked about taking the stimulus money, Pawlenty defended himself by noting that Minnesotans only get back 72 cents for every dollar in federal taxes we send to D.C. He also noted that he supported some sort of stimulus package, just not this one. He unfortunately doesn't ever take the time to explain why he didn't like this one and what he would do differently.
