Patrick's Cabaret plans relocation
A $240,000 gift from an anonymous donor has cleared the way for the relocation of Patrick's Cabaret. As early as January, the cabaret could move to the Firehouse Theater, located at 3014 Minnehaha Ave. Gay activist and performer Patrick Scully's current space at 506 E. 24th St. has had problems recently with meeting city codes. Additionally, the new space provides Patrick's with expanded seating, increasing seats from 49 to 120.
"The biggest thing people will notice is that there are no posts," Scully says, referring to blocked sightlines that exist in the current cabaret space. Scully also notes that the Firehouse is "about 15 percent" bigger than the 24th Street space and features a tower and flagpole that rise above the neighboring buildings. "We'll be looking for a Perkin's-sized rainbow flag," he says.
