Atlanta, GA, December 13, 2000 -- Building on its strategy to become the one-stop bottled water information and shopping site on the Web, www.water.com, today announced separate alliance and co-promotional agreements with five bottled water companies across the United States. Clear Mountain, Deep Rock, Glenwood/Inglewood, Distillata, and Mount Olympus bottled water companies will join water.com's existing online distribution partners, gaining immediate access to the industry-leading health and hydration content and the e-commerce capabilities of water.com.
By tapping into water.com, bottled water customers in Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and Utah, will now be able to order water and coolers easily online from their local bottled water company. This latest group of bottled water companies brings water.com's total number of online partners to 9 and extends the site's delivery reach to include over 40 states in the United States.
"E-Commerce is all about partnering, and these bottled water companies are going to be superb allies in our industry-wide effort to make bottled water delivery and health information easily available to consumers throughout the United States via water.com," said David Krishock, Chief Executive Officer of water.com and its parent company, Suntory Water Group, the third largest bottled water company in the U.S. "These agreements will offer a cost-effective and immediate window of e-commerce opportunity to all of our partner distributors, and give us a more extensive physical footprint in those areas where water.com does not already deliver."
"Clear Mountain is very proud to be selected as a partner with water.com," said Scott Kingsboro, President and Chief Operating Officer of Clear Mountain. "We realized several years ago that the Internet is the place to be to provide easy access to our customers' service delivery needs. Initially, we made attempts to start the long process of developing that technology internally. Water.com accelerated that effort and instantly put us light years ahead with the simple stroke of the pen. The exciting part of this partnership is our being associated with what is quickly becoming a national presence for ordering local bottled water products."
The new distribution partners will join water.com's existing online partners, Snowbird, LeisureTime, WaterBoy and Georgia Mountain, and will appear as a regular part of water.com's regular navigational structure, with their logo fixed on the water.com ordering page and their delivery areas included within the water.com zip-code search engine. These offline distributors gain immediate entry to and visibility among the water.com community, a Web site that received the award for "Best Web Site in the Beverage Industry" from the industry's governing body, the International Bottled Water Association.
Minneapolis, MN, December 13, 2000 -- Lesaffre et Compagnie, a major producer of yeast and malt products headquartered in northern France, announced today that John Riesch (55) has been named chief executive of its U.S. and Canadian yeast operations. Mr. Riesch, most recently the chief operating officer of Edwards Fine Foods of Atlanta, has significant experience in producing and selling yeast and yeast products.
Lucien Lesaffre, one of two members of Lesaffre's executive committee, said, "To this point, the company has focused its North American efforts in the instant yeast market, but a purchase of the Red Star yeast division of Sensient Corporation, which formerly was Universal Foods Corporation, would put us in a position to be a real competitor in the fresh and cream yeast markets nationwide."
He added that, "John will energize our instant and dry yeast business. We are counting on him to build the Red Star business into an effective competitor, if we are successful in acquiring it."
Mr. Riesch said, "I am very pleased to be joining Lesaffre. I have known many of these people for a number of years, and I look forward to working with them."
