The brand-spankin-new lime rides

We're the biking-est city in the country (and the cleanest, least wasteful and one of the most enviro-friendly). Tomorrow we're going to rub that fact in everyone's noses when Mayor R.T. Rybak cuts the ribbon on NiceRide, the nation's largest bike sharing system. (Map after the jump.)

Let's hope NiceRide fares better than a similar program in Paris, where 80 percent of the initial 20,600 bicycles were stolen or damaged, the mere existence of the program set off -- mon dieu! -- a kind of existential crisis.

The festivities start at 11:45 a.m. with an inaugural pedal on the ugly colorful lime green steeds from the Central Library down Nicollet Mall to Peavey Plaza, and a noon ribbon cutting in front of the Downtown YWCA
