New Year's Day is a great day to do absolutely nothing if you can swing it. So in addition to your horrendous hangover, make sure you aren't screwed in other ways. Here is a kind reminder of what is open and closed New Year's Day.

Snail mail me: Post offices will be closed except for the 24-hour location at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
Money money money: TCF traditional branches are closed and in-store branches are open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. U.S. Bank traditional branches are closed and in-store branches are open normal hours. All Bremer and Wells Fargo branches are closed.
Food: Major supermarkets are open.
Shopping: Major malls are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Most mall theaters, including the theaters at the Mall of America, will be open.
Bus and light rail it
: Metro Transit buses and light-rail trains will follow Sunday/holiday schedules. For route information, call 612-373-3333 or go to Metro Transit's Web site
Parking on the street: Parking meters enforced in Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota and St. Paul. Minneapolis parks meters will be enforced unless noted on the meter.
No one is working: Local, state and federal government offices are closed.
Read a newspaper: Libraries are closed.
