New Campaign Gets Library Books Back to the Stacks
For the first time in its fifty-year history, The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library is offering a book amnesty coupon to new and renewing Friends members. Regardless of the checkout date or the accumulated fine, the Minneapolis Public Library (MPL) will waive the fine on any one item returned with the MPL Amnesty Coupon issued from The Friends.
Designed to reunite MPL with its materials and enhance The Friends membership incentives, the MPL Amnesty Coupon is ideal for library patrons who are sheepish about returning books that have taken up residence in "private collections." The Friends of MPL are one of only two library advocacy groups known to offer this unique membership benefit, having patterned it after a successful program at the Denver Public Library, where it has been useful in retrieving overdue materials.
For more information, call The Friends of the Minneapolis Public Library at (612) 630-6170.
